"My Core'dinations Creative Frenzy"

Well it's come around again - the Design Team call over at Core'dinations.  I have been with this team since 2009 when my daughter, Kim Moreno, talked me into trying out (she was on the team at the time) and I did it's been a wonderful four years.  I LOVE this cardstock and can't even imagine starting a layout without thinking ok which one of the awesome lines will I start with or use on my page.  Over the years I have found that creating a page with no patterned paper is sooo easy!  There are so many beautiful lines and patterns in this cardstock and so many creative ways to use it.  And well I'm an over achiever - when this came out it was hard for me to choose which papers I wanted to use so I came out with more layouts than the three - but it was just too hard to choose between them that I gave up and decided to submit them all.  And there's also that now that I just work part-time I have more time on my hands to spend here in my craft room!
First off is a page I did using some of the Cosmo Cricket woodgrained cardstock (love this line!), and then sanded it. Then I embossed some basic core with different embossing folders which I sanded it as well with my Sand It Gadget, wiped it with a piece of my Dust Bunny.  Then I used a die cut and cut, embossed and sanded my flowers and put them together.  The Tim Holtz Seasonal line was perfect to use for my title - I just cut out the words I wanted and sanded them.  You can click on any of these pictures and they will pop up for you so you can see them in greater detail. With these flowers that you roll up I've found it's better to sand your cardstock before you use the die cut - it becomes too fragile after it's cut to sand well.

Here is is in a little closer detail the wavy piece there was run through a crimper and then sanded and die cut.

Next up is a page using some of the Basic Grey collection as my background I punched the edged, sanded the sheet and then lightly went over the sanded area with ink. Then I added the piece down the middle which is from the Fancy Pants collection - this sheet is actually done with the whitewash.  I die cut the flowers and the leaves.  Tip on using a die cut on your leaves - once you have cut and embossed them with the die cut itself - run them through your Xyron sticker maker (I have the 250 which is a little wider than the sticker one) and THEN sand it.  Stems are so delicate as well as flourishes that if you try to sand them without having them glued down to the sheet they will tear apart - this way they are easy to sand - when you are done they are already glued so just add them where you want them. On my flowers I used the rest of the Fancy Pants that I used down the middle to make the flowers.  Also check out there under the picture there's a Core tag which I embossed and added a gem to.

Next up is a page using some of the Tim Holtz Collection.  First off I scored a frame around where I was going to focus my page - actually double scored it - two sets of lines.  As you score use your Sand it Gadget to sand over the scoring ridge while it's still on the score ridge - much easier and cleaner than trying to sand it after you are done scoring.  Then I sanded down outside my scoring to really accent a frame look.  To create the red portion of the page I used a circle cutter I think was made by CK (OLD tool of mine) and sanded over it again and again moving it around behind my page - I really like how it came out.  Then I used a strip of The Jenni Bowlin line with the stars.  I used some of the Tim Holtz kraft and embossing it and cut out sections, also just tore a few pieces.  Added some of the Jenni Bowlin black/kraft piece and cut out circles of it. Oh and then I sanded and cut out my title from the letters on a sheet from the Jenni Bowlin line- ran then through the Xyron machine and put them on some black cardstock which I cut around the letters so when I put them on my page they popped a little more.

Next up is a page done with some of the Basic Grey collection.  I used a matching sheet and sanded it and then folded it and sewed it to the top to create a ruffle.  I also framed my picture with a coordinated sheet, sanded it and tore it.  I die cut flourishes and leaves as I explained above and added those.  A couple of the flowers are layered with Petaloo's coordinating petals.

For this page I went for some bright papers - the pink and the whitewash sheet from the Fancy Pants collection, the green from the Jenni Bowlin line. I used some words from the Stacy Julian papers. There's two of the new Core smooth tags - one I journaled on and one I used a rub on on - they are great for stamping too.

Then I just couldn't image submitting a submission without using of of the Core Amour - one of my favorite lines.  I used three different sheets from the Onyx collection on this and then added some of the Doily s that I sanded and cut out from the Basic Grey collection.  I also cut out some florals from the Jenni Bowlin paper I used in the above layout.  The white/black flowers are from some of the 6 X 6 White Wash collection.

Finally I wanted to do a few cards .  Here I have used the Basic Grey 6 X 6 papers, the dotted papers and then some of the Pastel collection.  On both the last two cards I have done the stamping and coloring on a sheet of the Pearls collection.  Love how it gives it just a little more of a pearlized look.

Thank you for stopping by and checking out my submission.  This is just a fabulous team and the leadership from Mindy, Anthony and Ellen is just awesome!  I hope I get the opportunity to continue to watch this exciting company grow.
